The gods, Heart of the Sky and Heart of the Earth, created the world. The waters parted and a land of mountains, valleys and streams appeared. When the fruit of their labors was revealed in all its glory, they decided it needed guardians...

Waste crisis in Guatemala rivers
Environmental Crisis

Most towns in Guatemala lack official waste collection systems.

Trash is thrown into the ground, lakes, and rivers. Vital drinking water is being contaminated. Children play among waste, and diseases spread.

Our Vision

"To foster a healthy | ecological | holistic awareness in the indigenous communities of Guatemala, empowering them to reduce water, air, and soil pollution..."

The Evolution of a Movement

We transform solid waste

For local development

Local houses

Pura Vida began in 2004 as a pilot project in San Marcos La Laguna. After years of visible success, it evolved into a nationwide independent ecological movement.

PURA VIDA ATITLAN is not an association or NGO. We do not manage large funds, nor do we have public offices or salaried staff. Please keep this in mind!

Phase II: Better Nutrition

Environmental pollution often starts with community malnutrition. We seek to transform habits toward conscious consumption that nourishes both humans and their environment.

Phase III: More Cosmovision

"True restoration begins in the mind. Disconnect from media noise and reconnect with our spiritual heritage. Reclaim our Cosmovision: humans are not masters of nature, but its guardians."
